Deutsche Telekom, Intel and Huawei jointly completed the world's first new 5G air interface interoperability test

Deutsche Telekom, Intel and Huawei announced that they have successfully completed the world's first 5G interoperability and development testing (IODT) using 5G commercial base stations based on the 3GPP R15 standard. The new air interface test is based on Huawei 5G commercial base station and Intel's third-generation 5G air interface mobile pilot platform, taking Huawei and Intel to support 5G full-scale commercial deployment by 2019.
 
As early as 2015, Deutsche Telekom and Huawei started joint research on 5G networks and are committed to promoting the 5G industry. Using the Intel 5G new air interface mobile test platform, this operator, equipment provider and terminal chip company jointly implemented the IODT test based on the first standard of 5G NR (New Radio), which is a key milestone in advancing the 5G industry .
 
This test is based on the Huawei 5G commercial base station and the Intel 5G new air interface mobile test platform. The three parties jointly verify the basic interoperability test based on the 3GPP 5G NR standard and realize the interworking between the terminal and the network under the new air interface standard. These include new synchronization mechanisms, new codes, new frame structures, new Numerology and new waveforms (F-OFDM). Meanwhile, based on the maximum C-band carrier bandwidth defined by the new 5G air interface standard, this test uses the latest Massive MIMO large-scale multi-antenna array and beamforming technology under the standard framework.

On December 21, 2017, the 3GPP TSG RAN plenary successfully completed the first commercially available 5G NR standard in Lisbon, Portugal. Operators, equipment manufacturers and terminal chip manufacturers and other industry partners reached an agreement to jointly accelerate the development of 5G NR standards to help the global 5G industrialization process.
